Holiday greetings and love to friends and family! I usually post what passes for interesting news about (and photos of) my family on a blog and now Facebook. If you’re on the latter and haven’t “friended” me yet, I’d appreciate your doing so.

My mother turned 90 this year – I drove her and my Aunt Louise to Santa Fe and El Paso for that occasion. Otherwise most of my travel time (and money) has gone into being with son Rob’s family in Chicago (or bringing them here, as we did in July for a party with some cousins and friends).
After being laid off in July (his company halved their IT staff!), Rob is having a terrific time staying home with Michael (now 3 ½) and Juniper (21 months). His wife Maren is an editor for Ernst & Young in their Loop office, but she’s able to work from home (in Brookfield) two days a week. Their family seems to be thriving with this situation and my darling grandchildren are so happy to be close with their devoted Dad. The children are, of course, brilliant, gorgeous, imaginative, sweet and perfect.
I trained to tutor Applied Behavior Analysis with autistic children (ages 3 to 8) in Fort Worth’s Child Study Center beginning November 2008, then worked there part-time through August 2009. Alas, when the state slashed our budget almost in half, I was one of the casualties. I miss the children and the work, so at some point in 2010 I’ll look into freelance possibilities.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying singing with a quartet (two men, two women) we call “Fourtune,” writing impossibly idiosyncratic fiction, gardening, visiting with friends, working on Unitarian church projects, and partaking of museum exhibits, theatre, film and concerts here.
I carry my friends and family in my heart at all times and am very very grateful for the lovely life that I am being permitted to enjoy on this beautiful planet.
